Origami Life - Wings & Tails
Published by our fellow Origamist  Sampreet Manna

Overview | Where to buy | In his words

Indian Origamists

Started with a few origamists in Kolkata in the early 1970s

(In association with Origami Study Circle,  Kolkata Origami Circle etc.)

It all started with our beloved mentor Sailendranath Mukhopadhyay in early 1970.
It was a very new thing then - creating all kinds of animals and other models by folding a single piece of square paper - an ancient Japanese art.

Indian Origamist held a meeting in Barahanagar on April 3, 2023 after many years.

A meeting was held on April 3, 2023, at Biswanath Basu's residence in Barahnagar after many years to ignite the spark to start over again what we started in 1970s.
To go with the Adda, the host, and his wife arranged some snacks for the meeting. But it was really a dinner.
The meeting went very well. Some of the topics of discussion was...

1. To bring all the origamists scattered around in Kolkata area under an umbrella.

2. To bring the Origamists from Bangladesh together.

3. To host an Origami exhibition at some reputed place like the Academy of Ine Arts.

4. To start communication with the Japanese Consulate, who has been promoting Origami at Kolkata Book Fairs etc. over the years.

5. And a number of other stuff to revive the culture of Origami in India.

To the memory of our beloved Sailendranath Mukhopadhyay who taught us the art of Origami in early 1970.
He presented these to Soumen and Sarmistha on their wedding day on May 6, 2000.
